TOEBY’S BIG ADVENTURE
Book Synopsis: Toeby has just turned four years old, which means his toes are about to produce a horrible smell! The only way to rid his toes of their stench is to go on a BIG adventure to The Great Lin Colin Pond. Unfortunately, Toeby is much too young to go on this journey, for the pond is guarded by the Ruthless Toothless O-Scar! However, being much braver than the average four-year-old Lil Toe, Toeby decides to take his chances and go on the BIG adventure!
Toeby’s BIG Adventure Team:
Ebony Parish- Art Director : Award-winning costume designer, artist, and creator of the children’s book French Fry and Bendy Boy’s Pug-Tacular Christmas, Ebony Amber is a mother of three boys who loves a creative project, especially when it includes one of her sons or her two beloved pugs. Being the mother of Toeby’s BIG Adventure author, Zane Parish, Amber knew it would be a blast to join the Lil Toe’s project. She was excited to lend her artistic eye as well as the editing skills she had developed while working on her epic fantasy novel. “It was great to step away from some of my more complicated projects and focus on a fun, colorful book that includes adorable characters and a great story!”
Tyler Green- Lil Toes Character Design: Syfy’s “Face Off” Season 6 finalist and All-Star Semi-Finalist, Tyler Green, is an SFX makeup artist and educator who teaches students of all ages at his studio in Winsted, CT. Since he was a child, Green has been a fan of colorful, wacky characters, such as Jim Henson’s Muppets and Chris Columbus’s Gremlins. Hoping to create his own little monster, Green got to work sketching out concepts. “The goal was to give Toeby and the Lil Toes a super unique look that would read monster but would also be cute and cuddly.” Combining his love for bats, cyclopes, and small, fuzzy things, Green at last accomplished his childhood dream, creating the lovable Lil Toes.
Zane Parish- Author: Winner of Michigan's Crooked Tree Arts Center Youth Writing Competition, 9th grader Zane Parish hopes to further his writing career while also exploring the world of architecture. When Parish was only ten years old, special effects makeup artist and creature designer Tyler Green approached him to write a children’s story based on a little character he had created named Toeby. Inspired by the concept, Parish soon developed the outline for Toeby’s little world, and thus, the story of Toeby and the Lil Toes was born.
Mary Duggan- Illustrator: Mary Duggan was raised on Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. She often got in trouble at school for drawing dragons, elves, and unicorns on her math worksheets. After becoming a mother to a similarly creative daughter, her love of illustration was reignited. When Duggan was asked to illustrate Toeby’s BIG Adventure, she knew it was the perfect match for her. “I love the way Zane mixes magic with the mundane, and I hope everyone has as much fun reading Toeby’s BIG Adventure as I have had illustrating it.”
